So I’ll admit I’m late to the game here but I’ve finally hopped on board the Birchbox bus. I was so impressed with how adorable my first box was and how many ideas immediately came to me for recycling it after using all the products it contains, but we’ll get to that another time…
Shine bright like a diamond
February’s theme all centers around adding a bit of sparkle to everyday, with the chance for one subscriber to win an actual diamond necklace! There’s also the introduction of Birchbox’s very own new make-up brand, LOC, with each box containing a full-size LOC One & Done Shadow Stick (RRP £8.00). You got to choose the shade you wanted – either ‘Champagne Problems’, a deep silver colour or ‘Perfect Cents’, a warm copper-gold. It took me forever to decide which one I’d prefer, but in the end I went for the latter and have been using it to glam up looks for date night or enhance a smoky eye.
The rest of the box didn’t disappoint either, with a gorgeous Tapered Powder Brush from Spectrum Collections (RRP £7.99). Its so soft and perfect for applying loose powder or highlighter. I’ve seen the brushes featured a lot on Instagram quite recently and have been drawn in by the mermaid colours, so was very happy to finally get my hands on one.
Another full size product came from Only Fingers + Toes and their deep red nail polish (RRP £16.00). I’ll admit I wasn’t really wowed by this one colour wise, as I’ve got so many similar shades already, but you can’t go wrong with a brand that boasts being free from all the Big Five chemicals commonly found in nail varnishes.
I wasn’t too fussed by the L.Erikson, Grab & Go Ponytail Holder (RRP £11.50 for a set of £15) either when I first saw it. I mean, its just a hairband right? But I’ve been using it basically everyday for the past week and if its not in my hair, its been on my wrist – so I’m clearly a fan!
We also got a sample size Nature’s Remedy Balm from Pommade Divine, (RRP £19.80) which I’ve been using as a night cream for my eyelids for the past week. I don’t know what it is about this time of year but they always seem to dry out (literally just my eyelids) so I’m constantly on the lookout for a decent balm to nourish and repair them. Well, I think I’ve found a solution here! The balm leaves them feeling so refreshed and with it being non-greasy, I can apply it liberally without worrying about overnight breakouts.
Last but certainly not least is my favourite product from this month’s box, the Lumiere d’Hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect spray from Number 4 (RRP £20.00). Not only does it smell great and leave my hair feeling super soft and less tangled, but it actually feels stronger. I’ll definitely be purchasing a full sized version of this beauty!
