Love her or hate her, there’s no denying Kylie Jenner always has a flawless face of makeup. So when she mentioned this new tip on her Snapchat and I (well, my boyfriend) just so happened to have the very product she was using in the bathroom cabinet, I’d be a fool not to give it a go right?
During a makeup tutorial with MUA Hrush Achemyan, she explained that to keep her oily skin at bay she’s been using Nivea Men’s Post Shave Balm as a primer.
With chamomile, vitamin E and key ingredient Glycerine (which acts a binder) the balm is actually manufactured to moisturize the face after a shave. Kylie used an original ‘sensitive’ version, which has 0% alcohol – so no harsh reactions for your skin.
Hrush showed us how to sweep the balm over your face with a sponge and leave to dry before applying any makeup…
I’m very aware that when you try something new, especially on your face, the results you see the first time around can be very different after long term use. As in, you might adore something when you first use it but after a week, it leaves you blotchy, has made you break out or just loses it’s general appeal.
With that in mind, I decided to give the balm a go for at least a week before coming to any decision about it, but if I’m honest after the first try I already knew what I’d be saying here…
A week has gone by and I am OBSESSED. As well as making it easier to put on my foundation in the first place, it lasts longer and gives you the perfect matte finish. Admittedly it was a little strange putting a product on my face that smelt like a boy at first, but I quickly got used to it and its not an overpowering smell you’ll notice after applying makeup anyways.
It’s a much cheaper alternative to most primers I’ve used in the past too, which is always a plus! You’ll find 100ml tubs in drugstores and most supermarkets for around £6.00. (It’s currently £5.35 in Boots.)
I highly recommend you give this one a go!
