Birchbox #5 | June Unboxing

Is there anything more summery than a palm tree or pineapple print? I don’t think so!

This month’s Birchbox comes in two different designs, with subscribers being sent either a pale blue box with palm tree motifs or this pink pineapple version. I’m so glad I got the latter, as it makes the perfect quirky addition to the rest of my Birchbox family.

You’ll also notice that this month’s design works as a pull out drawer, which I LOVE. It’s perfect for stacking, especially if you keep your boxes for makeup storage like I do – Let’s keep it this way please guys!

Not a subscriber yet? If you like what you’re seeing here, new subs for this month’s box receive a free full-size Mirenesse Glossy Kiss lip crayon in one of four shades, which I’m pretty jealous about if I’m honest.

Paradise Found

A summery theme would not be complete without a dose of SPF. I’m as pale as can be, so any sign of sun and I’m getting the sun cream out. When it comes to my face though, I always think its hard to find a product which protects you, without clog up your pores or creating a slithering mess before your primer. So I’m seriously impressed with the Bioderma Photoderm AKN Mat SPF 30 (RRP £14.00) which works as the perfect extra layer of protection, without having those unwanted effects. No nasty shine here! I’m definitely going to be stocking up with full sized versions.

Speaking of full sized, June’s box comes with a  Jelly Pong Pong Lighten Up brightener and waterliner (RRP £14.95) which works as another staple product for the summer. I wrote a post last month about how much I’m currently loving using white eyeliner on my waterline, so this works as a great extra product to have in my makeup bag. It’s more of a skin tone/golden colour than white, which makes it perfect to double up as an extra highlighter for underneath your brow line or even blended onto your cheeks for that extra glimmer.

We also got a sample of Percy & Reed Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray (RRP £12.00) which you can never go wrong with, but doesn’t really blow me away. If you’re after more of a shine to your hair, rather than actual staying power then this is the product for you. If you’re after even more shine, this time all over your body – then the Whish CC Body Cream (RRP £24.70) could also be one for you. Personally, I’m not fan as the after effects remind me of using glitter spray back in year 6 before the school disco…

I’m in no way hating on this month’s box though, as real winner and a Birchbox Exclusive is the Huygens Exfoliating Cream (RRP £17.90) which is PERFECT. Packed with sesame oil, green tea and rice powder, this natural face scrub gently removes dead skin and dirt without causing any irritation or dry patches. It makes my skin feel so soft that I want to leave it on for as long as possible and end up using it more like a face mask. I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of the Huygens range.

Are you a Birchbox subscriber? What did you think of this months box?

Or have you used any of the products I’ve mentioned before? What did you think of them?
